don't really understand this deal for the Kings, even if they keep their 1st this year it will be unprotected next year, meaning if they don't shape up then they could give up a potential loto pick next, plus Colliton is actually pretty good looking at his stats last year as well as Palacio (if you call 7/5/2 in 30 minutes good) and their doing this all for just Kenny Smith?
I'm just trying to acquire some depth at the point guard position, I've been in a couple other sim leagues before and I know that FBB places a huge emphasis on the point guard position. Plus Collition, Palacio, and Blackwell are all backup players on my team right now, and the way my team is going right now, a top 5 pick looks pretty likely, so I'll get it back if that happens
I get a couple nice prospects in Parks and Wesley, and Parks can be my backup PF for now while potentially being able to move into a starting position in the future. While Antonio Davis is a good player, hes almost reached his full potential, meaning he will be on the decline in a few years. Wesley is a top 10 PG in one of my other sim leagues so naturally I thought he would be better without looking at his traits beforehand but its alright, he can be my 3rd string
The whole thing that depends on this trade is if I get a top 5 pick or not. If I do, then its a good trade for both sides, but if I end up getting 6-10, then its a bad trade for me. But I think its a risk worth taking. It has the potential to be a bad trade, but I dont think it will end up being one in the long run
Also why is Ron Harper still on my team? He should've been amnestied already

What I don't get is why does the PG spot have to be filled in now? You probably won't make the playoffs and this upcoming draft has some really nice PG's (I don't think I have to say who they are).
If you feel Smith is worth the risk of missing out on this draft, then all the power to ya. Really I feel it isn't worth getting Smith, ending up with the 6th pick in the draft and missing out on a potential All Star player. It just seems like your trying to save your season a little with Smith. Let's also consider that he's an expiring has no loyalty and 99 Greed (if you like going by those stats). So the chances of you getting Smith back on a cheap deal is pretty dam slim if not non-existent.
I think it's ok with like a 99 1st in there or something, that's more then enough time to build up your team and make the playoffs 96 is really pushing it, and I think you would want to risk that on something alot better and younger then him.

I'm just looking to get ensured long term solutions at each position. I already have it at small forward with Nick Anderson and Michael Finley and I get long term stability at point guard (most important position in FBB) through this trade. The power forward situation isnt anything special right now, but at least they can compete right now, with one of them having the potential to get better. I kinda regret trading the pick too, but as long as I dont do too good this season I dont think it'll be an issue. If I lose it then I fucked up a chance to get a star player in one of the most stacked drafts ever
EDIT: After this last sim I'm 3-19 so I dont see myself slipping out of the top 5

actually, the most important position in FBB is the bigs, you can have a slightly average point guard with a Hall of Fame big, not the other way around.
You also have to consider next year though, it's not a slacker draft class either, Timmy D,Billups T-Mac and a good number of good role players who might just turn out to be starters. If things don't work out as planned, you just lost your safety net for next years draft.
My point is, you should really hold onto your pick if your team is playing like crap, unless it's really heavily protected to the point where it doesn't go unprotected till like 2001. Things don't always go as planned and it's much harder to rebuild a team that's at the bottom of the standings, vs rebuilding a mediocre team or a team that went over the hill.

With stats you can get From a dozen pg's ever FA none the less. Not a smart move at all.
Pfan is correct too that bigs are the most important assets to have. There are too many good to very good pg's you can easily get by with.

Really? I always thought it was point guard, at least thats what a commish in one of my leagues told me. Oh well, point guard is still important no doubt
And I wasnt going to do it at first, it wasnt until it was top 5 protected that I decided that those were odds that I could take based on where my team is going right now

I guess it might change now that we're getting close to that period where there's more great wing/pg players right now rather then great big's.

That's why I scoffed at another GM asking for Robinson for his star wing player. Having a great Big on your team is way more important than a great wing or PG.
