Hey there guys and girls. Whilst sitting here in my modified arm chair-come desk chair for the most part of the day that has been much of the same for the past 3 or 4 days due to a lack of housemates right now, and due to a lack of obligations, I had an epiphany. Why not bring something a little different to the board whilst i'm here twiddling my thumbs? So what ive done here is just mixed things up a little bit and give you a little insight to what ive been up to this past year. Just so that you can get your teeth into something a little different, and I thought it would be nice to head back to the roots of what got me going in this type of area (blogs and articles here on the forum), and simply document some things for you like I used to when I started. And with any luck I can hopefully fill in the blanks for those of you who feel i havent been as on point with being active as i could be, or those of you who feel i should have done my "This Week in the Nba" articles. By the way, if you feel I could be doing more in either of those areas, please let me know. The last thing I want is to fall off the radar and not be accepted as a member who does his bit around here...
Ok, so theres a few things I want to talk about. The first is my first year of university life. As you guys may have noticed may general activity outside of the sim league has still been as solid as ever (or I'd like to think so anyway), but the amount has been down. With me, its always been a quality of quantity thing anyway, I mean damn, check my post count.... But a big reason for that is me having just completed my first year of studies at University. My schedule was of course much more intense and with basketball, and then tennis also added to that I found my time limited. now obviously, i'm not saying i cant be around, but as you all know, sometimes things get crazy.
As ive said i'm highly involved in my basketball, Ive played in league here for some time now, and although i havent played so much these past 2 seasons, due to injuries and other commitments, basketball, along with tennis and most definately football (you US folk know that as soccer) remain my passions. I'm looking to become a pro basketball coach, with a secondary primary in football. At the moment to help me get there I am doing a work placement at a wheelchair basketball team, and my university course is in "Sports Coaching".
My ultimate dream or goal would be to become a scout, or talent development specialist somewhere in the US, but lets not think too far ahead...
As I said, i'm in my house at univeristy at the moment as I prepare for life away from home for a second year and get set for a second year of univeristy, and plan to pump alot of time into my basketball.
The second thing is my actual playing time I am taking in my different sports. Being prepared to coach whoever it is that i coach is very important to me, so i have been dedicating alot of time to plying my trade in football, basketball and most recently tennis. Alot of my time has been in the sports facilities working on my game, and at time popping along to the local sports teams seeing if they need a volunteer coach to help aid them. This is where alot of my time has been going, so dont think ive been avoiding you all on purpose.... its not all deliberate anyway
The injury that actually kept me out for a long period was before and leading up to christmas. I tore 2 parts of my hamstring, which when you consider that a common tear of the hamstring can keep you out of action for the best part of 5 or 6 weeks, took a long time to heal. Couple that with a set back whilst training and trying to rehab, and it pretty much forced me to say "adios" to my season.
In terms of right now, obviously basketball is where I have been loving it, but I have a really big urge and drive to get involved with the NFL. Until recently its never interested me, but I have found an interest and can now call myself an official fan. A Patriots fan at that. Now before you call me a glory hunter, know that I support them by default because I said before do any research that whatever team was in or was nearest boston, that'd be my team.
I have indeed been doing some research, and those longer serving memebers that know me well will know that when i take a liking to a sport, i love to know everthing about it. And i'm enjoying the hell out of learning a new sport and all the different aspects of it. I watched the sky sports game the other night, and i managed to find somewhere to watch the patriots play last night (great game for brady btw
So that about does it, just thought i'd piece this little bit together for your reading pleasure since it gave me something to do and since I thought it might give you guys something different to have a quick and light read on. Feel free to comment, and I hope you enjoyed me getting back to my writing roots and doing this simple, no gimics piece. Peace
